Transport Airmail Issue of 1941- 1944

Rate was 40c per 1/2 oz. for airmail plus 15c for foreign registry fee. Total of 55c postage.

This airmail series was issue during the year 1941 with First Day of Issue being several major stamp exhibitions throughout the year. The stamps were issue to meet existing rates and the denominations were: 6c, 10c, 15c, 20c, 30c and 50c all having the same design, only the colors were different.

Later when the domestic airmail rate increased from 6c to 8c per oz. an 8c value was added. The 6c value was also issued in booklet form for ease of use by service personnel.


6c Transport (carmine, Scott C25) - paid the 6c per oz domestic airmail rate and also the 6c per 1/2 oz. concessionary rate for service personnel using Army Post Offices (APO) or Fleet Post Office (FPO). The so called "servicemen's" rate was signed into law by FDR on December 13, 1941 and was effective December 25, 1941.

6c Transport (carmine, Scott C25a, Booklet) - issued March 18, 1943.

8c Transport (green, Scott C26) - paid the new domestic airmail rate of 8c per oz. effective March 22, 1944.

10c Transport (blue, Scott C27) - paid the rate to the America's of 10c per 1/2 oz.

15c Transport (brown , Scott C28) - paid some inter-Possession rates, also from Hawaii to the mainland.

20c Transport (green ,Scott C29) - paid the rate between Possessions and also from Hawaii to the mainland.

30c Transport (blue, Scot C29) - paid the European rate of 30c per 1/2 oz.

50c Transport (red-brown, Scott C31) - paid the rate from mainland US to Phillipines (a US Possession at the time).
